SoulCards: Self-Reflection Cards
Developer: Subtext Games
Effective Date: February 15, 2026
Last Updated: February 15, 2026

1. Introduction

SoulCards is a mobile application for personal self-reflection using metaphorical oracle cards. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

This policy applies to the SoulCards application available on Google Play, developed and maintained by Subtext Games.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Collected Automatically

When you use SoulCards, the following anonymous data is collected automatically through Google Firebase Analytics:

  • Usage data: screens viewed, features used, session duration, app interactions
  • Device information: device model, operating system version, screen resolution, language settings
  • App performance data: crash logs, error reports, app version
  • Anonymous identifiers: Firebase Installation ID and Analytics App Instance ID (these are random technical identifiers, not tied to your identity)
  • Approximate location: IP address is used by Firebase for geographic attribution (country/region level) and then discarded. We do not track precise location.

This data is anonymous — we cannot identify you personally from it.

2.2 Information You Provide

  • Journal entries and card drawing history: stored locally on your device only. We do not have access to this data, and it is not transmitted to any server.
  • In-app purchases: processed entirely by Google Play. We receive purchase confirmation tokens and product identifiers. We never see your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing address.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Names, email addresses, or phone numbers
  • Precise location or GPS data
  • Contacts, photos, or files from your device
  • Health or biometric data
  • Data from other apps on your device

2.4 Future Features

If we introduce optional user accounts in the future, they will use pseudonymous identifiers — we will not require your real name, email, or any personally identifiable information. Account creation will be optional and solely for the purpose of syncing your journal across devices. This policy will be updated before any such features are released.

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected data exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Improve the app: understand which features are popular and how users navigate the app
  • Fix issues: identify and resolve crashes, bugs, and performance problems
  • Process purchases: deliver purchased content (card decks) through Google Play
  • Analyze trends: understand aggregate usage patterns to guide development priorities

We do NOT use your data for:

  • Advertising or ad targeting
  • Selling to third parties
  • User profiling or tracking across apps
  • Making automated decisions about you

4. Information Sharing

We share data only with the following service providers, solely for the purposes described above:

Service Provider Data Shared Purpose
Google Firebase Analytics Anonymous usage data, device info, crash logs App analytics and performance monitoring
Google Play Purchase tokens, product IDs In-app purchase processing

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal data to anyone
  • Share data with advertisers
  • Share data with data brokers
  • Transfer data to any other third parties

Google processes this data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase Data Processing Terms.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Local data (journal entries, card history, preferences): stored on your device using the app's local storage. This data is protected by your device's security (screen lock, encryption). If you uninstall the app, this data is deleted.
  • Analytics data: transmitted to Google Firebase via encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS). Processed and stored by Google in accordance with their security standards.
  • Purchase data: processed by Google Play using their secure payment infrastructure.

We do not operate our own servers for storing user data.

6. Data Retention

  • Analytics data: retained by Firebase for 14 months, then automatically deleted.
  • Local data (journal, history): retained on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. You have full control.
  • Purchase records: retained by Google Play as part of your Google account purchase history.

7. Your Rights and Choices

All Users

  • Opt out of analytics: you can disable analytics data collection by limiting ad tracking in your device settings, or by resetting your advertising ID.
  • Delete local data: clear the app's storage through your device settings (Settings → Apps → SoulCards → Clear Data), or uninstall the app.
  • Control purchases: manage subscriptions and purchase history through Google Play.
